A pup named Gwen.
Five years ago a gangling little puppy was born. On a September evening in 2009 Collin and I drove to the Houston Airport to pick up some very important cargo. Our puppy had flown all the way from Michigan to join our little family. We drove around to the cargo area and saw a small dog carriage sitting, waiting for us. The puppy was scared and curled up at the back of the cage. She didn't understand and didn't know what to think about the journey that she had made.
Collin gingerly coaxed her out and put on her new collar and leash that said 'Gwen.' She was officially ours. Walking was adorably awkward as she had long, skinny legs and didn't know how to use them yet. We had bought her all sorts of puppy goodies and had brought some along. Gwen now had her very own bed and toy. She walked around inhaling all the new Texas smells. It was time to head home and she cautiously jumped into the backseat of the car and...fell straight asleep. Gwen slept the entire two hours home.
She has completely stolen our hearts. Now, five years later, she is celebrating another birthday. As I write this she is laying down, staring out the window with her nose smashed against the window. Her lovely 'nose art' covers the entire window.
Everyone that meets Gwen sees her sweetness. Although she is close to 120 pounds she is still a 'little' girl to us. We love her, drool and all.
