Sunshine, Seafood, and Snow cones
Texas weather is upon us! Skirts, shorts, and sunglasses are a must these days. Luckily, and quite surprisingly, we have had a ridiculously mild start to summer - knock on wood. Not that I want that to change or anything but we are getting into the time of summer where being outside, unless you are submerged in water, is just not an option. Much to our delight, this weekend was pretty mild and we decided to take advantage by enjoying as much of the big blue Texas sky as possible.
Saturday morning we woke up lazily and sipped our coffee while watching Top Gear (UK) which is one of our all time favorite shows. If anyone out there is a car enthusiast they absolutely must watch. After enjoying the morning we got ready and headed out to a store I have been wanting to visit for years called Charli. I pass it every single day that I drive to work but it took me over 5 years to finally step inside. And I must say I am a bit disappointed I waited so long. The store is a locally owned boutique and is chock full of designer duds but I hit the sale rack and found some amazing steals. One piece in particular that I am thrilled to bits over is a new dress for a wedding that we are attending in a couple of weeks. Tune in for that post to see the epicness of this dress.
Trying on clothes always peaks my appetite so Collin insisted that I surprise him for lunch. Anyone that knows me can attest that I do not particularly like choosing where we go to eat. How am I supposed to know what other people want to eat?? But alas, I gave in and surprised Collin with a new place we have never tried called Boneheads. They have a handful of locations around the south. Their motto is "relaxed place, serious taste." And I must say my expectations were met. We walked in to a nice, spacious restaurant and sauntered up to the counter to order. I went for the not-so-healthy-but-always-delcious fish and chips while Collin went for a rare ahi tuna sandwich.
We agreed that the weather was too nice to pass up and seated ourselves at a table under a sunshine yellow umbrella. The food quickly appeared and we dug right in. Now I don't know what exactly the sauce was that I was dipping my fish and chips in but it was utterly amazing. Zingy, zesty, and simply wonderful.
We enjoyed the weather a bit more before deciding to treat ourselves to a freakishly delicious snow cone at Bahama Bucks. We are quickly becoming regulars at this establishment due to their oh so wonderful shaved ice. The consistency is unlike any other snow cone I've tasted. It's almost creamy - if that makes sense. I opted for pina colada and Collin ordered a very tasty caramel frappacino concoction. Umm, umm, good.
We ended our sunshiny day day with a surprisingly fun game. Basically you are trying to hook your line onto this peg. It is harder than it sounds and it took us a while to get the hang of it. And, of course, Collin won. Another fantastic weekend! Hope you guys had fun too!
