Headed to the Beach
We checked out of Table Rock Jungle Lodge after another delicious breakfast and waited for our driver to arrive. We had made plans to go cave tubing later that morning.
Met a new friend while waiting for our ride.
Our driver drove us through winding and at times bumpy Belizean roads to the cave tubing location. We stepped out of the car to throngs of tourists buzzing around. Our guide was waiting for us and we were able to skip all the tourist lines as we unknowingly were being treated to a private tour.
Our guide was amazing. We had to walk quite a ways, tube and headlight in hands, to the river's edge. He stopped us along the way to point out interesting plants and birds and facts about the 'dry' caves we walked through along the way. Once we made it to the water's edge he hooked us all together and said all we needed to do was sit back and relax. That I can do.
Our guide maneuvered us around big groups so that we could have better views of the cave's formations. I was definitely getting used to the private excursions we were being treated to.
The GoPro pictures from inside the cave unfortunately didn't turn out as it was much too dark but believe me when I tell you it is amazing.
We floated out of the cave into the beaming sunshine.
We made it back and our driver took us the rest of the way to catch our flight. We took a tiny plane to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye.
We grabbed a taxi to our hotel, Caye Casa, and were warmly greeted by Shane who showed us around our room. After dropping our bags off we took a stroll down the beach to Lilly's Treasure Chest for my favorite meal - fish and chips!
The rest of the day we spent exploring the beach and lounging on our porch with gorgeous views of the crystal clear water.
We grabbed dinner and drinks at our new favorite bar, Sandy Toes.
Throughly exhausted we walked back to our room and hit the hay to rest up for our snorkeling adventure the next day. Come back soon to check out that adventure!
