Road Trips Through Portugal & Spain
Collin's parents and brother flew over to visit us for about a week. We all met up in Porto, Portugal, along with an old family friend. We checked into an amazing apartment right above the bustling Porto streets.
That evening we met for petiscos, the Portuguese equivalent to tapas, at a nearby restaurant and made our plans for the next day.
Porto is magical. I loved the colorful buildings, energetic plazas, green parks, and sparkling river that runs through it.
We decided to do a 'hop-on-hop-off' bus tour to take in some of the sights.
We even got to visit the bookstore that inspired the library in the Harry Potter movies - Livraria Lello!
We rented a 10-passenger van that Collin graciously, and amazingly I might add, drove us around in. Some of those streets were tiny! And parallel parking, in a city, on a hill, in a manual car - he is incredible!
We stopped off in Valença, Portugal, visiting the old town and taking in the scenery before driving over the border to Spain.
Our wonderful host took us to her home in Vigo where we rested up for more adventures. The next day we took a ferry to the Cíes Islands.
We packed up our towels, Kindles, sunglasses, and swimsuits and set off for a day at the beach. We hiked up to the top for stunning views of the blue-turqouise ocean below.
We can't wait to go back and visit more of Spain - the culture, the food and the overall beauty. Thanks for the memories!
